We take pride not just on providing skilled professionals but also in helping them find their perfect job match too: we know what it takes to keep an organisation’s treasury function running smoothly.

As the group treasurer, often a member of the senior management team, it is your job to make sure that company finances are in order and tidy up any financial issues before they become a problem. You’ll need skills like budgeting for future expenses as well as presenting recommendations on improving strategy or lowering risk levels with directors of finance.

The Treasury Recruitment Company has been helping shape successful careers and supporting companies build better businesses for many years. Established in 2002, our successful track record is based upon a proven ability to work with clients to deliver tailored solutions.

Treasury jobs we recruit for

  • Treasury manager
  • Assistant treasurer
  • Treasury analyst
  • Treasury accountant
  • Risk analyst
  • and more!

Typical treasury tasks

Treasurers manage a company’s financial commitments and risks. Typical activities include managing investments, controlling cash flow, reviewing market conditions. They will also advise on financial implications and risks that could affect other departments, such as tax. A treasurer might also manage a team of more junior staff, so there might be team management responsibilities.

It’s also important for a treasurer to develop and progress systems for monitoring cash flow and ensure that all the team’s activities comply with company policies.

Key treasury skills

Treasury managers must be able to present to the company board and relevant stakeholders. They need to liaise with operational staff and investors, as well as senior management. They should know financial markets and keep up with any changes and developments.

They should have a working knowledge of GAAP, extensive knowledge of financial markets, good attention to detail, excellent numeracy and analytical skills and be IT literate for various systems they will be expected to work with.

Qualifications & experience

Treasurers are, typically, degreed in mathematics, economics, or similar (some, though not all will be required to have advanced degrees) and many are required to be CFA qualified. Some organisations will take on graduate trainees and provide training and development across multiple finance functions, including treasury. Finance professionals can take ACT exams to progress into corporate treasury.

A corporate treasury job is a senior management level role, so most treasury manager jobs will have plenty of finance experience, including specific experience in treasury. Group treasurers will often go on to become finance directors and CFOs.
