Featuring

About this episode

Building a strong, lasting treasury team can be challenging. But one man who has a lot of experience finding the right people is Eddie Trahearn, Head of Treasury at GB Bank.

Eddie first came on The Treasury Career Corner in 2018 during his time with Belmont Green Finance and he joins the show again in this episode to discuss his career since.

Eddie has a lot of expert advice for treasury professionals at all levels. He provides top tips on interview techniques, what he looks for in team members, how to hire a trustworthy team and much more.

Eddie has over 13 years of treasury experience, from trading to the implementation of Bank standard processes and controls.

Initially at Alliance & Leicester – for a short period of good times but then through the financial crisis – he formed an appetite for rapid change processes and implementation of process efficiencies.

Eddie’s experience now covers bank and non-bank lenders, balance sheet management, structured funding, deposit funding, and liquidity and market risk management.

Eddie has implemented a full treasury of the UK’s newest Bank, GB Bank, which specialises in supporting the SME property development sector through a range of products.

On the podcast we discuss…

  • Eddie’s first steps into treasury
  • His switch to GB Bank
  • Hiring a team you can really trust
  • Keeping your eye out for new opportunities
