Session Description

Join Mike Richards, Nicole Meyer and Summa Simmons for a session on  “How to Maximize Your Networking Opportunities at AFP 2024”

Our workshop will help teach you the tools you need to have a fun and productive conference. We’ll talk about setting goals, networking, navigating the room, navigating the session schedule, personal well-being, and the follow up. Learn how to introduce yourself and be memorable, exit a conversation, engage with industry leaders, approach strangers, use social media to your advantage before, during and after the conference, and how to keep track of every connection.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn how to attend AFP with confidence and with the tools YOU need to make it successful.
  • Learn how to pace yourself over 3 days, attending the best sessions for you, networking effectively and efficiently, tailoring your introduction to the situation and asking for what you want and need.
  • Learn how to do the follow up which is equally important to the conversation. Learn how to be memorable and build advocates for your brand.

Why the Topic Is Important for Treasury and/or Finance Practitioners:

Attending a conference provides attendees with the opportunity to learn, stay up with trends, connect with people that they wouldn’t otherwise meet, and gain insights into the industry.  It also provides an opportunity to network.  But, most attendees don’t strategize and make good use of this opportunity.

Time management at conferences is at a premium and providing the tools to participate in a more meaningful way will resonate with attendees.

Participants will walk away with a networking toolkit enabling them to raise their internal and external profile and to network more effectively. This session will provide a comfortable setting for identifying what people want from AFP and setting out to achieve these goals at the conference.
