In this LIVE version of our podcast www.TreasuryCareerCorner.com – I host a fireside relaxed chat-style session where I interview THREE amazing Treasury professionals about their treasury careers.

We’ll explore how they achieved their career success, the challenges they faced, how they overcame them, their insights on the future of the treasury profession and they will be offering guidance on how to develop your own Treasury career.

Registration starts at 6pm, followed by the fireside chat from 6:30pm to 7:30pm at the offices of State Street Bank, Sir John Rogerson’s Quay, Dublin.

Erin Cole

Group Treasurer at Tate & Lyle

Erin joined Tate & Lyle in November 2019 as a Treasury Consultant. She quickly moved up to Senior Treasury Manager and then to Director of Treasury & Corporate Finance, before becoming Group Treasurer in 2023. She worked closely with senior management on the 2022 carve-out and sale of the Primient business, as well as the recently announced acquisition of CP Kelco from Huber. Her roles involved enhancing financial processes, managing funding and liquidity, and developing strategic financial plans.

Prior to Tate & Lyle, Erin was the Treasury Manager at James Hardie Building Products in Dublin where she managed numerous debt issuances, cash management, financial forecasting, FX hedging strategies as well as leading the finance workstream for the integration of the Fermacell acquisition. She also worked as a Senior Treasury Analyst at Getty Images, focusing on liquidity management and financial planning.

Erin completed the ACA exams at Chartered Accountants Ireland in 2017. She holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Corporate Treasury from Dublin City University and a Bachelor of Business Studies (Hons.) from Trinity College Dublin.

Erin’s expertise and strategic financial management skills make her an invaluable asset to Tate & Lyle, driving financial stability and growth.

Paul Hussey

Group Treasurer at QatarEnergy

Paul is a seasoned finance professional with over three decades of experience in corporate finance, treasury and banking. Since July 2023, he has been serving as the Group Treasurer at QatarEnergy, where he oversees liquidity management, financial risk, and investment strategies.

Previously, Paul worked with SABIC in Riyadh, contributing significantly to their corporate treasury structure, strategy and engagement with ARAMCO. Prior to this he had a ten-year tenure at AECOM in Dublin and the UAE as Vice President Treasury, and Structured Finance showcaing his leadership in corporate and structured and financial oversight.

Paul’s earlier roles include Head of Institutional Banking at Danske Bank Group in Ireland and Regional Treasurer positions at Tyco Electronics and Tyco International. He also held treasury roles in London in current overlay and fixed income fund management and began his career in the Central Bank of Ireland.

He holds a BA in Accounting and Finance from Dublin City University, and qualified as am ACCA in 1995.

Paul is recognized for his expertise in business analysis, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and hedging, making him a pivotal asset in the organizations he has served.

Paul Hussey

Group Treasurer at QatarEnergy

Emer is the Group SVP Treasury at Smurfit Westrock, with over 20 years of experience in financial reporting, treasury, accounting and internal controls. Emer joined Smurfit Kappa in 2006 as a Treasury Accountant before being promoted to Head of Treasury Accounting in 2013,Β  Assistant Group Treasurer in 2020 and Group Treasurer in 2022.

Since the completion of the Smurfit Kappa and WestRock merger in July 2024 to form Smurfit Westrock, she holds the role of Group SVP Treasury with overall responsibility for treasury strategy, ensuring access to adequate, cost-effective funding, efficiently managing liquidity and ensuring management and control of all treasury related risks centrally and throughout the Smurfit Westrock Group. As a member of the senior management team, she works closely with the CEO and CFO in executive decision making.

Prior to joining Smurfit Kappa Emer held a number of financial roles,Β  including Finance and Administration Manager at Montagu Private Equity and Assistant Manager at Bank of Ireland.

Emer is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and an Associate Member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers (AMCT), holding an AMCT Diploma in Treasury. She also holds a BA in European Studies from the University of Limerick and Graduate Diploma in Applied Economics from University College Cork.
