About this episode

We all face hard times, but Gerard Tyler truly has a talent for finding himself in difficult situations.

From finding solutions in the water industry during the 2008 Financial Crisis to working for uranium-enrichment giant URENCO Group after the Fukushima disaster, Gerard is certainly well-versed in crisis management.

Still in his role as Group Treasurer of URENCO Group, which provides safe, cost effective and reliable uranium enrichment services for power generation within a framework of high environmental, social and corporate responsibility standards, Gerard has a wealth of experience to share.

But where did it all start and what are the lessons he’s learned from those experiences?

Gerard joins me for this episode of The Treasury Career Corner Podcast to dive into the start of his career, its many twists and turns since, and his advice to other professionals at every stage of their careers.

On the podcast we discussed…

  • How Gerard discovered finance and treasury
  • The remarkable habit of history repeating itself and how it affects treasury
  • Why products generate revenue, not infrastructure
  • What it’s like to work though foundational changes in business lifecycles and regulations
  • What it’s like to transition from distressed, capital-intensive businesses to cash generative, high revenue businesses
  • Gerard’s advice to treasury professionals new and old
