The ‘Accidental’ Keynote Speaker

In 2016 my goal was to meet and talk to as many international Treasury professionals as possible and so I decided to embark on an International tour which I called the “It’s All About You!” Roadshow.

The Roadshow started at the Belgian Treasurers Conference in Brussels where I ran my “How to Build Effective Teams” workshop. In this Workshop, we discussed the importance of having the right treasury team in place and how to motivate your teams to achieve success. This was a really enjoyable and interactive session, working with a great team of Senior Treasury Professionals. Thanks for the input guys – you know who you are!

The video for that session and my other session ‘Managing the Treasury Talent Pipeline’ with accompanying notes and worksheets are published separately.

It was only when I arrived at the BNP Paribas Brussels Headquarters however, that I gained the title ‘ATEB-Slave’ for the duration of the Conference.

Due to a scheduling conflict, I was asked whether I could kick off the Conference and unwittingly became the Keynote Speaker for the start of the Conference on the Thursday morning with just 16 hours’ notice!

This was very scary but an amazing experience.

I remember asking Karen Van den Driessche, the Conference Chairperson, “how many people would be there from the Conference?”

Her reply “Everyone!….”

Well if there was ever any doubt before whether I would achieve my Goal, there wasn’t now!

So, the next day in front of an audience of 150 Treasury professionals, I spoke about “How Social Media & LinkedIn Have Changed the World of Treasury Recruitment”.

Here is a link to view the speech, I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did when doing it!

Accompanying the video, we have also created a useful checklist 10 Tips to Improve Your LinkedIn Profile – why not use it to improve your LinkedIn profile today?
