We are delighted to be retained by Menzies Aviation to recruit their new Group  Treasurer. The role will be based in London or Edinburgh working on a Hybrid basis.

The Role

The Group Treasurer will provide specialist information, advice and guidance to the Menzies Aviation Board, business units and shareholders. This role is both as broad as it is wide, interacting with a broad range of stakeholders internally and externally, working both operationally and more strategically.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitor and actively manage the Group’s liquidity position, including cash pooling arrangements, allocation, and repatriation. Supported by the FP&A team, provide daily cash position reports, weekly cash forecasting and debtors reports, and monthly financial position and leverage reports, along with ad-hoc reporting as needed.
  • Maintain and develop banking relationships, and actively pursue opportunities to secure additional liquidity at both Group and local levels.
  • Lead the cash forecasting process in close cooperation with business units, including corrective actions if needed. Actively involved in the budget and forecasting processes to align business P&L and liquidity projections.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for all bank guarantees in close cooperation with the shareholder’s treasury department, actively involved in the negotiation and processing of guarantee wording.
  • Develop effective strategies to mitigate the Group’s foreign currency exposures and ensure early involvement in large business development opportunities to identify funding gaps and propose financing options.

 

The Candidate

Ideally, the candidate will possess both a relevant finance/accounting qualification and/or a professional treasury qualification, with experience using large company ERP and consolidation systems, as well as implementing and improving a Treasury Management System.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on treasury experience in a large, complex group, along with high levels of emotional intelligence (EQ), confidence, self-belief, and gravitas. They will manage day-to-day queries, daily, weekly, and monthly reporting, FX hedging, bank guarantees, and other ad-hoc tasks.

Additionally, they will have:

  • Extensive experience in large multinational and diverse groups operating across multiple jurisdictions, currencies, cultures, and ownership structures.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a second language (Spanish, French, or Arabic) being a distinct advantage.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including working effectively with remote teams.
  • Capability to interpret complex information and present it in a simple, confident business partnering manner, demonstrating flexibility, versatility, and a marked can-do attitude.
  • Strong team player qualities, along with a desire to develop wider business acumen beyond the role requirements and grow into different roles.
