Navigating Complex Recruitment Terrain

Getting to know a treasurer by talking to them on the podcast has given me unique insights into the different challenges they each face. After interviewing Martijn Van Steenpaal, Global Treasurer at Darling Ingredients, it was amazing to be called by him a year after the podcast. I’d gained fantastic insights into the kind of people Darling Ingredients needed in the US and, as it turned out, globally. It was great to help him find not one, but three members of his global treasury team since we first started speaking back in 2020.

The Challenge

Darling Ingredients needed a new Treasury Manager who had been exposed to a wide variety of treasury challenges and was eager to utilize the latest technology for a global impact. Recruiting Martijn’s Treasury Manager became a key part of our search.

After a thorough briefing, we mapped the local markets around Dallas, Texas, and identified top talent. It wasn’t straightforward, as many Senior Treasury Analysts/Managers were content in their current positions. We took an active approach with a social media campaign, including an eye-catching advert and a YouTube video detailing the unique challenges of the role. We aimed to find someone looking to advance their treasury career and contribute to the growth of the entire treasury function.

The Result

We sourced and placed a fantastic candidate, Anu, with an impressive track record from 7-Eleven, back in 2022. This led to a greater understanding of Darling Ingredients’ global operations, helping us grasp the challenges faced by the team in Texas and globally.
