The norm within many careers is to move around and switch jobs every few years, building your career as you go. But in this episode of the Treasury Career Corner, we hear about a different career approach.
Joining this episode is Patrick McCartan, the Vice President and Corporate Treasurer at Caterpillar Inc. Patrick has moved around a lot in his career, having held roles in corporate treasury and dealer finance in the U.S., Mexico, and Luxembourg – but unlike most, this was all within the same company.
Patrick originally joined Caterpillar Inc. as a Treasury Manager and worked in several different roles over a seven-year period. He then switched over to Caterpillar Financial Services Corporation, working up to become the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer before making his move back to Caterpillar Inc to his role today.
Patrick shares his unique perspective of building a rewarding career and networking within what sounds like a fantastic company to work for.
